The Mercury recently reported that the hill opposite my farm is getting NBN satellite dishes and that Geeveston is getting NBN fibre after all:
...The site on Harwoods Rd, chosen in consultation with Huon Valley Council, is about six kilometres north of Geeveston...
The single-storey building with two 13.5-metre-diameter satellite dishes will provide a vital part of the network which will provide broadband internet to the most remote parts of the country...
...like Geeveston. Part of the pitch for the location was the 30 jobs that the ground station is supposed to provide. I wonder what they will be? How many former forestry workers will be re-trained to work there? Anyone have any clues?
